GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM)- A Grand Haven man is a celebrating a record-breaking catch during a fishing tournament in Muskegon County last month.
20 year old Josh Teunis and his buddies were bow-fishing in a tournament on Bear Lake on June 15th, when he took a shoot and nailed a fish called a Black Buffalo.
The fish, which Teunis says is fairly rare. weighed more than 41.25 pounds and was 38.25 inches long. It was so big Teunis says it took him nearly two minutes to bring it into the boat.
"As soon as I shot, we knew it was by the sheer size. When I got in the boat my buddy said it's a new state record. I thought it was a load of bull crap. He said 'no way, it's a lot bigger than mine is.'"
The catch won the team the tournament title and a $250 prize.
