GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids held a special service Wednesday night to show solidarity with Israel.
It was cosponsored by Congregation Ahavas Israel and Temple Emanuel.
About 100 people attended to show support and pray for an end to violence between Hamas and Israel.
"I think it is important to remember that Israel is interested in finding a way to end this operation to restore the long-term calm and quiet to the area while finding a way to protect our citizens, finding a way to live side by side with our neighbor Palestinians, and finding a way to accomplish that," said Maya Karmely of the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest.
Supporters of Palestinians plan to rally outside the federal building in Grand Rapids this Friday, starting at 4pm. They have had several rallies there already, including one at which pro-Israel demonstrators also gathered.
