(WZZM) - It may surprise that despite all the healthy benefits of living in Kent County, it has one of the highest rates of certain Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the state.
Paige Birkelbach from the Kent County Health Department helped compile STD statistics in Kent County and found it has one of the highest rates of Chlamydia in the state.
In 2013, Kent County's Chlamydia rate was 607 per 100,000 population. The rate statewide was 459 per 100,000 population. The majority of infections, 89% of them, were classified as a patient's first infection. But of all of the infections, 95% of the patients received treatments.
