GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - An annual block party aiming to revitalize Kent County's neighborhoods will take place in Grand Rapids' Southtown Madison Square Neighborhood Saturday.
The 4th Annual 'Rock the Block' offers activities for families and children, food stands from local restaurants, a street market and live entertainment from 2014 'American Idol' contestant and Grand Rapids native, Maurice Townsend.
The LINC BBQ Challenge will also make its debut this year, where eight contestants will vie for the title of 2014 LINC Community Grill Master. The winner will be awarded $1,500.
The party is Saturday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the corner of Madison Ave and Hall St.
'Rock the Block' is hosted by LINC Community Revitalization; an organization providing housing, commercial and economic development services to Kent County neighborhoods.
