GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- With the primary election on Tuesday, candidates for commissioner in Kent County's 17th District took the stage Friday night in Grand Rapids.
LINC Community Revitalization hosted the event, which featured incumbent Candace Chivis, Democrat challengers James Vaughn and Robert S. Womack, as well as Republican Ivory Smith.
The candidates shared their vision for the community and took questions from residents.
Vaughn is running to reclaim the seat he lost in his 2010 re-election bid after going to jail. He was convicted of attacking a former girlfriend during a three-way sexual encounter with another woman.
