HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A plan to build a new truck stop in Holland Township is raising safety concerns in light of a recent traffic crash that killed a local teacher.

Tuesday the township's planning commission could approve a site plan for a vacant property at the corner of Adams Street and Black River Drive, just off I-196.

In December Hamilton school teacher Joshua Hoppe was killed in an accident at the Tulip City Truck stop. Tulip City Truck Stop is located on M-40 which is also off of I-196.

The planning commission will look at safety issues, such as whether or not a traffic light is needed. The Ottawa County Road Commission is also requiring a traffic study, before the project moves forward.
