KALAMAZOO, Mich (WZZM) - The Kalamazoo Institute Of Arts is opening its High School Area Show to the public. The annual juried competition features artwork from high school students in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties.
The competition includes more than 100 pieces of art in a variety of formats including glass, 2-D, 3-D, video, and more. The awards ceremony is Thursday April 17th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts on South Park Street.
Some of the prizes include five $100 awards, a $100 summer scholarship to the Kirk Newman Art School, and college scholarships. One winner will be selected to participate in the national Congressional Art Competition at the U.S. Capitol.
