KENTWOOD/WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- The cities of Kentwood and Wyoming are providing places for people to take downed trees and debris.
In Wyoming, head to the yard waste drop off site at 2660 Burlingame Ave. from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Kentwood city workers will be at Kelloggwood Park until 10 pm each night. 199 Kellogg Woods Park Dr SE.
Some residents are cleaning up on their own, but others are quickly realizing they can't do it alone.
William Empey was dumping out yet another tree load at Kelloggwood Park Tuesday night.
"I've been to one yard, five trailer loads," he said. "One big tree," he said.
Empey is a lumberjack of sorts, and he's working on a few yards to help his landlord and renters in the neighborhood.
Others are lucky, with just branches to worry about, but Brian Martin has more weight to bear.
"Two trees fell," he said. "One crushed one car, another crushed another car of mine, and the roof is completely totaled." He lives off 56th and Division.
He didn't know where to begin.
"I don't own any chainsaws or power tools."
Empey got a head-start, but quickly realized, these trees needed professional removal. And that comes with a price tag.
"Two trees, probably $4,000," he said.
The log truck sitting in front of Martin's house, was full of wood, all belonging to him. And the yard still isn't finished. Timber Ridge Tree Service, which he used, tells us they'll charge between $500 to $5,000 per tree, depending on the size. Martin's neighbors finally gave up on their tree for safety reasons, and will also hire help.
But Empey will still help those who want to do it, themselves.
"When I get done for my landlord, if neighbors need help, yea," he said.
