HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Holland artist has a new take on how to build a snowman. Jay Bickel created two ancient-looking snow sculptures in front of his house on 32nd Street. One is an Easter Island Head and the other represents the ancient Aztecs. Bickel says he was inspired by an old, popular comic strip.

"I drew a little inspiration from Calvin and Hobbes, actually way back in the day when I was a kid, I read those and he always made crazy snow sculptures so figured I'd give it a try," says Bickel.

Bickel cut out a block of snow and then used tools to shape it. He says the sculptures took about two hours each. Bickel plans to also make a third snow sculpture of a sphinx.
