GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The candidates for local, regional and national offices canvassed Grand Rapids Saturday, trying to get their names out.
Winnie Brinks, who is a democratic candidate for the state house, started going door to door Friday and plans to visit more than 13,000 houses by election day.
"That personal touch and that personal contact with voters is really important to voters so it's really great fun for me to go door-to-door," said Winnie Brink. "I really enjoy that part of the job."
Republican Congressman Justin Amash and Kent County Commission candidate Casey O'Neil also visited numerous voters Saturday.
"We've gone through almost 1,000 so far and knocked on almost every door in this entire district," said O'Neil.
"People have been very excited to see their congressman come to their door and meet with them and ask if they have any last minute questions face-to-face," said Amash. "I think it does make a big difference."
The election will take place Tuesday, November 6.
