WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - The Wyoming Planning Commission Tuesday night is expected to approve a special use permit for a new Walmart Supercenter in Wyoming.

The permit request is for an outdoor gardening area at the store, which will be located at 325 54th Street SW, just west of Home Depot. City planner Tim Cochran says the planning commission approved the store project March 19.

Walmart purchased approximately 17.5 acres for its development. Cochran says the land was once home to a large lumberyard that was demolished about a decade ago. The planning commission rezoned the area from industrial to commercial in January.

Cochran says Walmart is keeping two lots adjacent to the 190,000 square foot store empty for possible restaurants. If all goes well, construction on the Walmart Supercenter should start later this year.
