GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Extensive repairs to U.S. 131 through downtown are in store for this summer.
MDOT has plans for reconstructing the highway from Wealthy Street to Bridge Street. The work will include concrete bridge approach work, concrete deck overlay, barrier replacement and substructure repairs, joint replacement and bridge epoxy crack treatment.
MDOT is seeking a variance to the city's noise control ordinance, so it can work at night. City commissioners Tuesday approved that variance. No one opposed the plans at a recent public hearing.
The work will begin July 7 and run through August 28.
