WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - Once the largest movie theater in the world, Studio 28 is in the process of being demolished.
Crews are in the process of tearing down Studio 28 from the outside. The demolition process began last Thursday on the inside of the structure; Monday, crews focused on tearing down the front entrance.
Since the theater closed six years ago, the building has fallen into disrepair. Wyoming leaders hope tearing down Studio 28 will make the property and the 28th Street corridor more attractive for developers and business tenants.
City developers say this opens the 20 acres to new possibilities, including a development called 28 West.
