GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The City of Grand Rapids is closing a sidewalk and part of the street along a section of Division Avenue because of a leaning building.

City engineers have determined buildings at 35 and 41 South Division are structurally unsafe and pedestrians walking by could be injured. City officials say shifting soil is causing the building's facade to bow and is loosening bricks.

Orange barrels placed along the sidewalk will soon be replaced with cement barricades and the southbound lane of Division near Weston is closed.

The city says it is working with the building's owner to fix the problem, but the structures may have to be demolished.
