(Battle Creek Enquirer) -- Bob Goodrich, a Democratic businessman from Grand Rapids, has announced he will run against U.S. Rep. Justin Amash for Michigan's 3rd District.
"Bob strives to introduce a new political conversation to West Michigan," Goodrich's campaign said on its website. "He is shifting his focus to the individual. And not simply getting the vote of the citizen, but listening to their story and figuring out solutions to the difficulties that many face in the community."
Goodrich filed a statement of organization with the Federal Elections Commission earlier this month. Brian Ellis, a Republican businessman from Grand Rapids, is also running against Amash, R-Cascade Township.
Amash is currently serving his second term in the U.S. House.
Goodrich is president and CEO of Grand Rapids-based Goodrich Quality Theaters. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. He also holds law degrees from U-M and from New York University. Goodrich also owns several non-commercial radio stations, according to his website.
