KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Basketball fans in Michigan are riding high, with three schools invited to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Western Michigan is really feeling the excitement; this is their first appearance in ten years.
A blow-out win made the Broncos MAC Champions Saturday night.
And when Selection Sunday came around, Western Michigan proved they deserved to dance alongside Michigan's other two powerhouses in the NCAA Tournament.
38:55 Shocking, I'm really excited. I never thought I'd see them in March Madness. This is fantastic," said Jon Grant and Nick Nowland.
It's the team's first trip in 10 years. As players got to work on drills, excitement filled the air on campus.
"Everyone feels on top of the world," said sophomore Payton Reilly.
Students were already buying Championship t-shirts at the campus bookstore, the first place to sell gear and design an NCAA Tournament shirt. The shirts will be available Tuesday at the Bernhard Center bookstore and online at WMU Bookstore
Students say they'll wear these proudly.
"For awhile we pretty much had just hockey to look forward to. Now add basketball to that," said Mark Viel.
"Our football season wasn't all the great so we've been waiting for something fun to happen," said Jessica Jarrett.
But do they have faith in the Broncos winning?
"The only downer is they're playing Syracuse," said Grant.
Syracuse hasn't been doing so well lately, they've been on a downward slope," said Viel. "I think we're better than people think we are."
Fans are cautiously optimistic, and hoping for a Cinderella result.
