GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- One of the premiere golf courses in Grand Rapids is getting ready for West Michigan's premiere golf event of the year.
In two weeks, Blythefield Country Club will host the first LPGA Meijer Classic.
It's a beautiful golf course and perhaps a fitting location for this tournament.
"I like to always say we're not your grandfather's golf course," says Patti Butcher.
She's not your ordinary golf course director.
She's done the math. She figures she's one of only six female country club directors in the United States.
"We're making our roads entirely everywhere in the golf business, and Blythefield happened to be ahead of the curve, I guess."
Tournament organizers say they're expecting a fantastic field. All the major winners are due to be here, as well as Michelle Wie and Stacy Lewis.
Butcher says she was honored that Meijer chose Blythefield to host the biggest golf tournament in West Michigan in several years.
