PITTSBURGH, Penn. (WZZM) – It was a rough night for Detroit, as starter Justin Verlander last only one inning against the Pirates at PNC Park, citing shoulder pain in his right shoulder.

Grabbing an early lead, and their only lead for the night, Miguel Cabrera singled to right field in the first.

But Pittsburgh answered back with five runs against Detroit, including a bases-loaded triple down the line by Starling Marte.

Tigers gave up a total of 11 run, 14 hits and had three errors.

Detroit also blew through five pitchers, none of whom had a good run.

Pirates take the win: 11-6.

The loss, coupled with the Kansas City Royals win over Oakland, drops Detroit a half game behind the lead in the AL Central Division.
