GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Mitch Callahan of the Grand Rapids Griffins took a slap shot to the mouth during Wednesday's game against the Iowa Wild.

Callahan lost teeth and later posted a selfie to his Twitter account @MCally15 of the damage. Callahan was taken to an area hospital for X-rays.

WZZM 13 cameras were rolling when Callahan suffered the injury during the first period.

The 23-year-old Californian made his NHL debut with the Red Wings last week.
