GVSU's women's soccer head coach announced today that he's accepted the same position at the University of Iowa.
ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) - After 11 seasons as Grand Valley State University's women's soccer head coach, Dave Dilanni announced today that he's moving to a Big Ten University.
Coach Dilanni announced today that he is accepting the same position at the University of Iowa.
He is credited with the highest winning percentage (.895) in Division II history and has taken the Lakers to three Division II National Championships.
With regard to his time spend at GVSU, "I will be forever thankful for my 11 seasons at Grand Valley State," Coach Dilanni said, "with the help of my staff, a tremendous group of players - past and present - that brought in to the high expectations I demanded every year and the support of a first-rate athletic administration, this program has become a perennial contender on a national level."
In addition to strong leadership on the field, 12 of his players have earned Academic All-America honors and over 50 players have been named to the GLIAC All-Academic or Academic Excellence teams.
GVSU is now beginning the search for Coach Dilanni's replacement.
