80-year-old man found dead after crashing car into large tree

BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, MICH. - An 80-year-old man is dead after his car crashed into a large tree in Berrien Township.

According to a news release from the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, officers found the driver and accident on Long Lake Road near Rangeline Road Saturday morning.

The driver, James Braddock, of Sawyer, was dead.

Braddock was driving a 2005 Lexus west on Long Lake Road, when he drove off the road and hit a large tree. His car came to rest in the center of the road, left with extensive damage.

The crash remains under investigation, however authorities say that weather does not appear to be a factor.
