Motorcyclist killed after crashing into Consumers Energy truck

COOPER TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a Consumers Energy truck Tuesday morning.

It happened around 5:15 a.m. on Douglas and West B avenues in Cooper Township, north of Kalamazoo.

According to Consumers Energy spokesperson Roger Morgenstern, the motorcyclist was killed after they ran into the back of a parked Consumers Energy digger derrick truck.

The truck was parked alongside the road, with its amber warning lights on. The truck was parked there while the crew member surveyed wind storm damage in the area when it was rear-ended.

Michigan State Police is handling the investigation of the incident.
