MSP: Man killed after speeding off the road, hitting several trees

BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MICH. - One man is dead after failing to stop at a T-intersection in Muskegon County, speeding off the roadway and crashing into several trees on Sunday, Nov. 26.

According to a news release from Michigan State Police, it happened shortly before 5 a.m. at the intersection of Brunswick Road and Blue Lake Road in Blue Lake Township. 

A Buick sedan was traveling westbound on Brunswick when the driver didn't stop at the T-intersection at Blue Lake Road. He continued west, speeding off the roadway just before crashing into the wooded area and hitting several trees there. 

The sedan caught fire after the crash and was fully-engulfed when first responders arrived. The driver inside was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name is being withheld by authorities until a positive identification can be made and his family can be notified.
