WYOMING, Mich. -- A crash involving a motorcycle and car that left one person dead and another injured forced authorities to close down a portion of 28th Street SW for hours.
28th Street SW between Taft Avenue and Burlingame Avenue was closed just before 8 a.m. on Saturday on reports of a motorcycle and car crash that happened at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, June 3.
According to officers on scene, two motorcyclists were racing westbound on 28th Street when one of them hit the driver's side door of a car that pulled from a private driveway. That cyclist, identified as 28-year-old Justin Bush of Wyoming, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Wyoming police news release.
The driver in the car, identified as 67-year-old Wyoming resident Ricardo Trevino, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The second motorcyclist stopped briefly, but left without identifying themselves. The Wyoming Department of Public Safety reports that person later provided police with a statement.
Police closed the area for several hours to clean up the scene.
