45+ mph gusts possible into Wednesday across West Michigan

Wind gusts in excess of 45 mph are possible Wednesday, March 7.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A cold front triggered a round of very strong winds early Tuesday, March 7.

Several towns along the Lakeshore experienced 50+ mph wind gusts. The gusty conditions resulted in numerous power outages in Muskegon County.

A powerful storm system will keep very strong winds going, with a high wind warning in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday for most of West Michigan.


A wind advisory runs during the same time farther north into Oceana County eastward. Wind gusts could exceed 40-45 mph at times, resulting in scattered power outages.

If skies clear enough, 50+ mph wind gusts are possible throughout the region. If this verifies, numerous power outages will occur.
