Say it ain't snow: Winter returns to West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - After a long break, snow has returned to West Michigan.

A winter weather advisory runs through early Tuesday, March 13 for all of West Michigan.

Several inches of snow are possible around the region with the highest totals along the lakeshore, particularly northwest of Grand Rapids.

Travel will be challenging through Tuesday morning due to the falling snow.

Because of the recent cold weather, ground temperatures are below freezing allowing the snow to pile up efficiently.

The system snow will begin to end Monday evening.

Full forecast: 13 On Target Weather

There could be additional lake-effect snow showers Tuesday into early Wednesday. However, because of northerly winds the snow will impact areas well west of US 131.

Bands of lake-effect snow could clip western portions of Mason and Oceana counties into early Wednesday morning.
