Severe thunderstorm watch issued for hail, wind threat

Live Doppler Radar

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The increasing likelihood of strong to severe thunderstorms prompts forecasters to issue a severe thunderstorm watch for most of West Michigan.

It runs through 11 p.m. Monday, April 10, for locations including Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo and the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop along and near a cold front, which could merge into a fast-moving cluster of storms, forecasters say.

The greatest threats in and around the watch area are hail and wind. However, it's not out of the question there could be a tornado or two.
