GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Catherine’s Health Center started out in the basement of a Creston neighborhood church back in 1996.
It was operated by volunteers and provided basic health care services to folks who needed them.
Today, it is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center providing a vast array of services to people in 23 West Michigan zip codes.
Sam Wohlfeil is the Director of Strategic Engagement at Catherine's Health Center.
He explained that Catherine's currently has four physical locations across Grand Rapids.
These include the original location in Creston Heights, a collocated facility with Streams near 60th and division, a brand new Wyoming clinic, and a dental clinic just down the road from the Wyoming location.
They also have two micro-sites collocated with Mel Trotter and with Townline Elementary, providing behavioral healthcare to the students at the school.
They provide primary medical care, behavioral health care and dental care to the community.
Wohlfeil said they are accepting new patients at all locations and provide full life cycle, pediatric through adult care, at their new Wyoming location.
“Catherine's also provides health support services, health coaching, insurance navigation and community service navigation to anyone in need,” said Wohlfeil.
“Catherine's is here to truly serve the community from a healthcare perspective and provide full wrap around care to entire families and provide one convenient location/organization where anyone is able to access quality care. Beyond healthcare, we also want to connect our patients with other community organizations that may be able to help them with whatever issues they may be facing, including food assistance, employment assistance, education assistance and more. Catherine's isn't just a healthcare facility but a living breathing entity in the communities we serve.”
