James Starks is heading home to Ohio

“I’m incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to be back in my hometown with my family and friends,” James said about his new move.

James Starks is saying goodbye to 13 ON YOUR SIDE to take on an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. He is heading back to his hometown of Toledo, OH to work at the station he watched growing up.

“I’m incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to be back in my hometown with my family and friends,” James said about his new move.

He started with 13 ON YOUR SIDE Mornings back in November of 2018, and his charisma and personality helped viewers wake up every weekday morning. He was also heavily involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Grand Rapids.

“We are glad to see this dream come true for James,” says 13 ON YOUR SIDE News Director Julie Flynn, “But we will certainly miss his hard work and the energy he brought to 13 ON YOUR SIDE Mornings.”

Born and raised in Toledo, James started his career covering the Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference extensively at TEGNA sister station WLTX in Columbia, SC. Then he went on to cover the World Series, NBA Playoffs, NFL Draft and many other major sporting events as a sports anchor and reporter for KPRC in the Houston, TX area.

James was also a former two-sport athlete at Capital University in Columbus, OH and two-time All-American and captain of the football team. He then signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals before going overseas to continue his career with the Ancona (Italy) Dolphins.
