I've been a proud Michigander since December of 2009, when I began my broadcasting career in Traverse City. I then moved to Grand Rapids and joined the 13 ON YOUR SIDE team as a Multi-Media Meteorologist in September of 2011.

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, so naturally I'm a die-hard cheese head - Go Pack Go! With that said, Michigan has always held a special place in my heart.

My family owns a cottage in Arcadia where I was blessed to spend part of every summer of my life. In fact, that's one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in Meteorology. One of my fondest memories is sitting on the porch of the cottage with my dad, watching storms roll in from Lake Michigan.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and spent two years interning at WTMJ in Milwaukee where I learned much from my mentor, John Malan.

I'm an award winning Meteorologist and a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society (AMS). I also serve on the Station Scientist Committee with the AMS.

I'm thrilled to be living and working in West Michigan and couldn't be happier forecasting all four seasons in the Great Lakes State.

I'm passionate about all things outdoors and I love new experiences. My day isn't over until I've learned something new. I'm a people person and I believe everyone has an interesting tale to tell.

Watch for me on weekend evenings and don't hesitate to email me with questions, story ideas or general musings at alananehring@wzzm13.com.
