GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Carla Bayron's currently a Multiskilled Journalist (MSJ) and Fill-in Anchor at 13 ON YOUR SIDE. She specializes in court and crime coverage.
Previously, she was an MSJ at WTOL 11 (CBS) / FOX 36 News in Toledo, OH, covering Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. She was also an MSJ, Fill-in Anchor, and Producer at WILX News 10 (NBC) / WSYM FOX 47 News in Lansing, MI.
Before moving to the Midwest, Carla worked as a Weekend Evening Anchor and MSJ at WCJB TV20 News (ABC) in Gainesville, FL, where she won a Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Award for her breaking news reporting.
Throughout her career, she has covered numerous high-profile events, including the Oxford High School shooting, President Trump's 2016 campaign rally in Ocala, FL, and white nationalist Richard Spencer's speaking appearance at the University of Florida.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunication. (Go Gators!)
She is of proud Puerto Rican descent and having grown up in Palm Harbor, FL, she loves going to the beach. A nature-lover, you'll also find her hiking local and state trails and parks.
When she's not outside, she's typing away at her fiction novel, playing video games, or watching movies with her husband.
