Visitors to Cedar Point will be paying more this season when the Ohio amusement park debuts its new world-record-breaking hyper-hybrid roller coaster, the Steel Vengeance.

The park announced gate admission this year is $72, a $5 increase. The admission gets you unlimited access to all rides and the Cedar Point Beach for the day but not the water park. The water park prices are still being determined.

But for savvy shoppers, Cedar Point is offering a pre-season sale, where everyone pays the kids' price of $45. The tickets are good through Oct. 28, when the season ends.

Cedar Point opens for the season on Saturday, May 5, and the hot attraction this year is the Steel Vengeance.

Steel Vengeance is the first steel on wood hybrid coaster. It's 205 feet tall, has an first drop of 200 feet, goes 74 miles per hour, and has four inversions. The ride time is 2 and a half minutes. It's replacing the Mean Streak, the old wooden roller coaster.

And there's new food this year, too.

The park announced late last month that there are 5 new dining options:

  • The All Day Dining Pass, which does not include a drink for $31.99.
  • Single Meal Deal, which includes a drink for $14.99.
  • All Season Dining, which comes with the option of a souvenir cup or throw away cup for $99.99.
  • The Souvenir Bottle, which has always been available, now comes with free refills on your first visit to Cedar Point in 2018 and only $1 (tax included) for every refill with each following visit for $11.99.
  • All Season Drink Refills with souvenir bottles or throw away cups for $29.99.

The following was also announced, a release said:

  • Point Plaza, the gift shop located at the park's main entrance, will undergo a complete renovation with beach-themed décor. It will also feature a variety of Cedar Point souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, bathing suits, candy, snacks and more.
