Teresa Giudice is defending herself against accusations of racism amid her fight to stop the deportation of her husband, Joe Giudice.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star took to Instagram Wednesday morning to share a family photo of herself and her husband standing in front of a Christmas tree with their four daughters, in an effort to get out the word about a Change.org petition she's started.

"Please help our family by signing this petition, the bond & closeness I have with my father I hope & pray my girls have with Joe," Teresa wrote. "Love to you all."

However, the reality star took some heat from some critics in the comments who called her out -- partially for her past support of Donald Trump -- and asked why people should care about her family when so many other families are facing the same concern.

One user, Sadie.W.212, asked Teresa, "Where was this energy for the Mexican families that trump (who you supported) separated? Not only your family matters, Teresa."

The reality star decided to respond directly to the Twitter user, but apparently ended up generating a new storm of controversy with what seemed like an unfortunate omission of a very important comma.

"I never said that all families matter," Giudice responded, along with a heart emoji.

While it appears that she meant to convey two different thoughts -- "I never said that" and "all families matter" -- the lack of proper punctuation makes it look as if she was implying that she never said all families matter, only hers.

Following the response, many users started to weigh in on the remark, with many fans defending her against the handful who took the comment at face value as supposed evidence of her indifference to other families struggling with deportation.
