GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Walk to End Alzheimer's kick-off event is set for Wednesday, June 20.
The actual Walk to End Alzheimer's event doesn't take place until September, the fundraiser takes months of preparation. The kick-off event gives people a chance to register for the event, build teams, get a head start on fundraising money and share ideas with other walkers. The kick-off event is also where walker pickup the 2018 Team Captain Kits.
One of the event's organizers, Joy Spahn, joined 13 ON YOUR SIDE at NOON to share all the details.
The goal of this year's walk is to raise more than $250,000. As of Tuesday, June 19 the event has raised more that $55,000.
The kick-off takes place at Millennium Park at the Grant Pavilion in Walker. lt's happening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
