LaughFest postpones some of the second weekend events amid COVID-19 outbreak

The signature event at DeVos Place featuring comedian Jeff Foxworthy is canceled

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gilda's Club Grand Rapids announced Friday morning some LaughFest events taking place this weekend will be postponed or canceled amid the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak.

Gilda's Club made the announcement on Friday, March 13, stating events scheduled for Friday through Sunday -- the second weekend of the 10th annual event -- would need to be rescheduled at a later date.

Tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows or individuals can request a refund at the point of purchase.

Friday, March 13

  • Maria Bamford at Wealthy Theatre –  7pm and 9:30pm 
  • Rockin’ Homegrown Jam with The Legal Immigrants at The Intersection – 7pm

Saturday, March 14

  • Fortune Feimster at Fountain Street Church – Saturday, March 14 at 7pm 
  • Jeff Foxworthy – Signature Event at DeVos Place - Steelcase Ballrooms – Saturday, March 14 at 8pm 
  • River City Improv at Wealthy Theatre – 7:33pm

Ten additional cases of coronavirus tested presumptive positive, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. This brings the state total to 12 cases, including four in West Michigan. 

The West Michigan cases include:

  • Two women from Kent County and one adult male, all with history of international travel.
  • A woman from Montcalm with history of international travel.

Health officials in Oakland County also released a list of possible COVID-19 exposure locations in Michigan and there were three locations in West Michigan. They include:

March 6, 2020

  • Five Guys, 3561 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, 6:30-7:00 p.m.

March 7, 2020

  • MSA Woodland, 2100 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
  • Texas Roadhouse, 3776 28th SE, Kentwood, 4:30-6:15 p.m.

March 8, 2020

  • Subway, 6260 28th St SE, Grand Rapids 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Jimmy Johns, 5925 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
