Local 2nd graders learn how to be funny

LaughFest announced it's annual workshop will take place at Meadow Brook Elementary School.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Second graders from Meadow Brook Elementary are in for some laughs Monday.

Gilda's LaughFest announced that it will be holding it's annual workshop at the school, so students can learn how to write jokes with local comedian Allen Trieu.

Trieu is a Grand Rapids native who started his comedy career by winning GVSU’s Last Laker Standing contest. He has performed around the country and has even opened for Maria Bamford, Kathleen Mardigan, Hannibal Buress and more. Trieu has appeared on the Bob and Tom Show and FOX Sports as well.

Meadow Brook Elementary second graders will be divided up into groups and will work with Trieu directly.  The whole group will come together at the end of the workshop and share some of the jokes the students wrote during the lesson with Trieu.
