GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — This isn’t a joke. If you support Gilda’s Club and LaughFest by giving blood you will also get the organization some cash to help its patients.

Michigan Blood is partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network to support Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and its annual LaughFest.

For each blood donor that comes to one of the three upcoming blood drives, Blue Care Network will donate $10 to LaughFest’s High Five campaign. That money will also be matched by DTE Energy, up to $50,000, to support the programs that Gilda’s Club provides for cancer patients and their loved ones.

Each donor will also receive an exclusive LaughFest sipping glass or T-shirt and a pin. They will also be entered in a drawing to receive free tickets to LaughFest.

Donating blood takes about an hour. Anyone age 17 or older in good health who meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to give. Parental consent is required for donors age 16 to give. Donors should bring a photo ID.
