Just a week until the Amway River Bank Run 2019

The event draws thousands of people to downtown Grand Rapids every year.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Each year the Amway River Bank Run brings thousands of people to Grand Rapids. The 5k, 10k, and 25k races draw all sorts of people, from the incredibly dedicated to the more casual athletes. 

This year, 18,000 athletes are expected to participate in the race. In fact, the Amway River Bank Run presented by Fifth Third Bank with Spectrum Health the Official Health Partner is the larges 25k road race in the country. It also offers the only 25k Wheelchair racing division in the world, along with a 25k Handcycle division. It all happens on May 11 in downtown Grand Rapids. Roads are closed and thousands of runners hit the pavement, following the course through the city.

This is the 42nd year for the race, and it currently holds the 25k American record and the Women's 25k American record. It is also a USATF-certified race. 

There are staggered start times due to the number of people participating, and the number of events. The starting line is at Monroe Avenue and Lyon Street in downtown Grand Rapids. 

The finish line is at Ottawa Avenue and Lyon Street. Registration for the event is available online until May 7 at 11:59 p.m.
