What's Up This Weekend: Winter fun for everyone

Here's a look at some of the kid-friendly events happening in West Michigan this weekend.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — If you're looking for fun, winter events that are perfect for the whole family -- look no further. 

Each week 13 ON YOUR SIDE helps you plan for your weekend with Grand Rapids Kids, so here's a look at some of our top picks:

For fans of Frozen and ice skating, there will be public skating at the Walker Ice and Fitness Center on Friday, Dec. 20 from noon until 1:50 p.m. The rink suggests children wear helmets when on the ice -- so bring a bike helmet from home. All the information on prices and times can be found here.

If you're looking to get outside and enjoy the winter weather, check out Winter Fun at Indian Trails on Saturday, Dec. 21 starting at 8 a.m.. There will be fat tire biking, showshoeing and cross country skiing -- as well as hot chocolate, coffee, cold beer and snacks. It's $3 for the day, $15 for the season. 

Trying to catch a movie? Celebration Cinema North is showing a sensory-friendly movie on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. Family Hope Foundation and Celebration! Cinema have come together to provide the unique movie experiences for individuals with special needs and their familiars. The theater will show Jumanji 2 on Saturday, but with the lights up, the sound lower and limited previews. All the details on pricing can be found here.
