Saturday, April 13 is a celebration of your local record store.
Record Store Day is being recognized at shops across the country. The event was started in 2008 as a way for the staff, customers and artists to come together and celebrate the unique culture of record stores. On the day, there are also special vinyl and CD releases.
In West Michigan, a few area stores joined in on the celebration.
Vertigo Music (Grand Rapids)
Vertigo Music in Grand Rapids is opening their doors from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for their party. The event is free and it features DJs, discounted music, food and drinks from local businesses and exclusive releases.
They are also running several deals all day.

Dodds Record Shop (Grand Rapids)
Also in Grand Rapids, Dodds Record Shop is hosting their annual Record Store Day Parade. Their party will also have DJs.
Dodds, which is Michigan's oldest record shop, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their parade goes from 3-3:15 p.m. and it starts at 808 Bridge Street SW.

Corner Record Shop (Grandville)
The Corner Record Shop is going to be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. They will have live music all day. They are also going to have free chili dogs and chips available.
The store is also hosting a speaker raffle.

Off The Record (Grand Haven)
On the lakeshore, Off The Record in Grand Haven is hosting its own event. They are going to have exclusive vinyl picks as well as a Record Store Day 3 inch turntable that includes a Foo Fighters single.
Off The Record will be open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Third Coast Vinyl (Muskegon)
Third Coast Vinyl in Grand Haven is going to be celebrating Record Store Day from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. The shop is going to have exclusives and other titles in stock.
They are also going to have a lot of other items on sale.
