The cheesiest way to celebrate National Cheddar Day

Heather Zinn from The Cheese Lady stopped by My West Michigan with some extra-cheesy ways to celebrate National Cheddar Day.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It's ooey-gooey and extra delicious -- cheese! And Thursday is a very special day for cheese lovers, it's National Cheddar Day.

Cheddar cheese is no ordinary cheese, according to Cheese.com, is the second most popular cheese in the United States. It originated from England, in a village where it was first made in the 12th century.

National Cheddar Day hasn't been around as long as the cheese itself, 2020 is the second year that it's being celebrated. Oregon cheese maker, Tillamook, founded the day to mark its 110th anniversary of making cheddar cheese.

To celebrate this delicious day, Heather Zinn from "The Cheese Lady" stopped by My West Michigan with some yummy cheddar examples:

  • Prairie Breeze Cheddar (Iowa)
  • Barbers Vintage Reserve Cheddar (England)
  • Vat 17 (Wisconsin)
  • Canadian Cheddar (eh)
  • Old Quebec Reserve (eh)
  • Beechers Smoked Flagship (Seattle)

The Cheese Lady has an impressive selection of 150 artisan cheeses from all over the word. The company also offers a wide variety of wines to compliment any array of cheese, each location has a wine list you can find online.

These are just a small sampling of things you can enjoy at any one of their stores located across West Michigan including Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Farmington, Rochester and a new store coming to St. Joseph very soon!
