GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Rock the Coast is back for its fourth year, with high-performance boats invading Grand Haven on Saturday.

The weekend is put on by West Michigan Offshore, a nonprofit organization focused primarily on its charity work and providing members with connections in the powerboating industry. This year’s charity to benefit from the event is Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore.

“We are fueled to give back to the community,” West Michigan Offshore President Roger Zuidema said. “The charity focus is a big part of what we do.”

The festivities kick off Friday, with boats arriving at the Grand Haven Municipal Marina in the afternoon and the Keith Holmes Memorial Run at 5 p.m.

Holmes, who owned CK Motorsports in Nunica, died two years ago from injuries sustained in a crash during a powerboat race on the St. Clair River.

Saturday features a powerboat parade down the Grand Haven channel beginning at 10:15 a.m. Boats will then speed south to Port Sheldon, Holland and Saugatuck, then back north to Holland for a Parade of Flags down the Holland channel to Boatwerks for lunch.

The boats will then make their way back to Grand Haven for the Wharf Party Supper at 6:30 p.m.

“The best part of Rock The Coast is the people and the opportunity to showcase the great coast of West Michigan,” Zuidema said. “The people bring enthusiasm and fun, while our great water venue allows us to showcase the boats and do what we love to do.”
