The foods you should never eat during the summer

Between health risks and safety risks - there are some summer staples you should just avoid eating this summer.

There are some foods you just can't picture summer without - however, did you know that some of those foods could be potentially dangerous to you and others? Delish has found the summer foods you want to think twice about before chowing down.

1. Hot Dogs

The World Health Organization (WHO) asserts that processed meats are as bad for you as tobacco! The WHO has found, through studies, a relationship between colorectal cancer and food in sausage casing.

2. Seeded Watermelon

Though seedless melons may be a tad more expensive, they're worth it. Watermelon seeds can obstruct your bowels, causing you to bloat.

3. Oysters

Raw oysters can host tons of food-borne illnesses including the potentially deadly vibriosis (from eating raw foods).

4. Macaroni or Pasta Salads

Everyone loves a good creamy pasta salad, but if this sits out for too long, food-borne illness can become a huge risk. Not to mention the loads of sugar and carbs involved aren't great for your health.

5. Snow Cones

Ice and high fructose corn syrup? No thanks. Plus, the neon colors are most likely from food dyes which can aid in cancer and auto-immune disease development.

6. Corn on the Cob

Stray kernels on or off the cob can cause gum inflammation and extra plaque buildup in your teeth. Plus, corn is one of the starchiest veggies, with none of the benefits (tons of carbs!)
