GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ron VanTimmeren from Celebration Cinema gets us ready for a weekend filled with movies!

Here's a look at what's new in theaters:

Doctor Sleep

Danny Torrance is a middle-aged man drifting though America in order to shed his father's alcoholism, which passed down to him in order to forget the events of "The Shining." After landing into a small Massachusetts town and with the aid of a cat, he becomes "Doctor Sleep." After meeting a young girl with the most powerful shining Danny's ever seen, he must now face the demons of his past and the demons of the present in order to save her from a horrifying evil known as "The True Knot."

Tom (Golding) seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate’s barriers. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, nothing should work for these two. But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart … and you gotta have faith.

Midway

"MIDWAY" centers on the Battle of Midway, a clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy which marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theater during WWII. The film, based on the real-life events of this heroic feat, tells the story of the leaders and soldiers who used their instincts, fortitude and bravery to overcome the odds.

Playing with Fire

When straight-laced fire superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena) and his elite team of expert firefighters (Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo and Tyler Mane) come to the rescue of three siblings (Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery and Finley Rose Slater) in the path of an encroaching wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could prepare them for their most challenging job yet – babysitters. Unable to locate the children’s parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire depot turned upside down and quickly learn that kids – much like fires –are wild and unpredictable.

Writer director Taika Waititi brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, "JOJO RABBIT," a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy, whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother is hiding a young girl in her attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler, Jojo must confront his naive patriotism.
