Flowers with J: Flowers for health and wellness

See how arranging flowers can be good for your health.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Flowers make us happy, but did you know that arranging flowers can actually improve our health and wellness? 

Flower expert J Schwanke from “Life in Bloom” joined My West Michigan Wednesday to share tips on how to arrange a perfect bouquet of flowers or a nice centerpiece. 

Science shows having bright and fragrant blooms around your home can reduce anxiety and boost energy. Some of the best flowers for well-being include daisies and gerberas, because they're bright and cheery. Roses are also great because they're very fragrant. 

J. Schwanke is a fourth-generation florist, author and floral educator. "Life in Bloom" is his lifestyle series on flower arrangement, design and instruction. The series takes viewers around the country, touring flower farms, greenhouses, markets, festivals and special events.
