How to shop in your own home!

Leslie Hart-Davidson from HDD Studios shares tips for changing the look of your rooms with items you already own.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Here are some tips for changing up your space while stuck at home:  go shopping in your OWN rooms!

1.  Tilt your head
Changing your viewpoint on a piece can open up a world of possibilities.  If you're looking for a certain size of a piece, try looking at objects in a different orientation.  Many IKEA pieces can be turned on their sides or stood up to be more functional.

2. Move something in your home
Just because you can't go shopping in a store doesn't mean you can't have cool new stuff.  Try swapping out pillows from one room to the next, or swiping a frame from a different room to feature a new picture, kid's drawing or print.

3. Add more lighting
Rooms can feel dreary if they lack the proper quantity or quality of light.  Try swiping a lamp from a lesser used room to see how extra lumens can improve the mood.  Also check out the quality of light your bulbs offer--warm lighting of 2700K as listed on light bulb packaging will make a space feel happier than the unnatural blueish light of cool bulbs.
