Celebrating the Lunar New Year in Grand Rapids

See how you can join the Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival Team and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. for a winter festival.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival (#GRAPF) Team and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. are proud to present the Lunar New Year Festival as part of the 2020 World of Winter Festival!

It's a celebration of the New Year, based on the lunar calendar. The festival showcases a variety of cultures from all over Asia. This year is the Year of the Rat -- 2020 also marks the beginning of another 12-year cycle of the Zodiac.

This is GRAPF's first Lunar New Year event and will feature live entertainment and authentic food -- all located under a widespread heating tent. There will also be a kid's fun section, dragon dance performances from Calvin University students and lion dancers.

Attendees can also win prizes given away throughout the night, including Celebration Cinema Gift Cards and Michigan International Auto Show tickets.

The Lunar New Year event is free and will take place Saturday, Jan. 25 at 555 Monroe Ave. NW, located along Monroe Avenue just north of Interstate-196 in the Monroe North neighborhood. It's happening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
