Celebrate Michigan’s rich logging history at Newaygo festival

Newaygo is where to go this weekend to celebrate a big part of the state's history.

Logging is an important part of Michigan history and there is a big festival underway this weekend in Newaygo to celebrate that. From axe throwing and horse pulls to chainsaw carving and a pageant for the little ones, the Logging Festival is the perfect opportunity to get your inner lumberjack on.

There is also a museum exhibit showcasing items from the logging boom on the Muskegon River. It's all happening Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
