GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Surgery recovery can be difficult, taking weeks for patients to get back on their feet.
But at Spectrum Health, they are working to get people back to their normal lives faster. Increasing numbers of surgeries are being done robotically, and Spectrum Health has added 13 robots to hospitals all over the system since 2017.
We heard more about the expansion and what it means for patients from Robotic Manager Todd Cooper. Cooper identified the types of robotic surgeries Spectrum Health performs:
- Hernia Repair
- Lung Cancer Resection
- Prostate Cancer
- Colon Resection
The following Spectrum Health locations have robots:
- Big Rapids Hospital
- Butterworth Hospital
- Blodgett Hospital
- Lake Drive Outpatient Center
- United Hospital
- Pennock Hospital
Coming this summer are both Gerber and Ludington Hospital.
