According to Family Promise, an organization that provides shelter for the homeless, that number only includes families they are aware of. Worse still is the number of children included in that statistic. The average age of children who Family Promise serves, is younger than 6 years old.

United Bank has launched its Blanket the Community project to draw the community together and help keep homeless families warm during the cold winter months. The bank is encouraging anyone who can help to drop off a new blanket to any of United Bank’s 12 locations now through the end of the year. The bank, in turn, will deliver those blankets to families in need.

This is the second year for Blanket the Community, and the bank’s goal is to collect more than a thousand new blankets. If you can’t pick up a blanket in person, you can order online.

Visit www.unitedBank4u.com/blanket where you will find a link to a special Amazon page with blankets pre-selected to make the giving process even easier.
